Carnival Parade
Carnival Parade features schools and groups from South Holland.
The carnival this year will remind the crowds of what the parade's original primary aim was - to use the tulip heads from the bulb fields, and marry it with the primary aim of today's Spalding Flower Parade and Carnival Trust:
to offer children the opportunity to learn and create through arts-based activities.
Groups taking part in this year's Parade are:
- The Lighthouse Pentecostal Dance Troupe
- Dreamz Dance Studio
- The Allen School of Dance
- The Endana School of Dancing
Dancers from local schools - Gosberton Primary School
- Weston Hills Primary School
- St. Norbert's Primary School, Spalding
- St. Paul's Primary School, Spalding
- Parish Church Day C of E Primary School, Spalding
- Pinchbeck East Primary School
- St. Mary's Primary School, Swineshead
- Sutterton Fourfields Primary School
- Spalding Primary School
Work on costumes, masks, music, song and dance routines commenced in January culminating in the Carnival extravaganza that will explode around Spalding over the May Bank Holiday.
The large costumes and power walkers are carried and worn by staff and volunteers who undertake training and start their fitness regimes around the same time as work begins on the costumes.
Our thanks to Arts Council England and South Holland District Council for their support.
